Basic Cadet Orientation Program and Non-Commissioned Officer Academy

BCOP/NCOA Weekend will be held on March 27-28, 2010 at Willow Grove ARS. The 111th Fighter Wing is helping us with this event. Please pass this information to all interested cadets and encourage them to register as soon as possible. Please print this email and give a copy to your cadets. Thanks for your support of this great training opportunity!

Note: Please make sure your cadets eat breakfast prior to arriving on Saturday morning. Lunch and Dinner on Saturday will be provided, as well as Breakfast and a Snack on Sunday.

BCOP and NCOA Information

Who: All cadets C/AB – C/CMSgt

What: Basic Cadet Orientation Program and Non-Commissioned Officer Academy

Where: Willow Grove JRB, Horsham, PA

When: Sign-In at 0800 hrs on Saturday, 27 March 2009.

Dismissal at 1400 hrs on Sunday, 28 March 2009.

Cost: $15 per cadet

Uniform of the Weekend: BDUs with brown t-shirt

Basic Cadet Orientation Program (BCOP)

- For C/AB – C/SrA

- Focuses on followership objectives, self-motivation, uniforms and teamwork

- Designed to give lower-ranking cadets a head start on succeeding in CAP

- Gives students the opportunity to learn teamwork in an interactive, hands-on environment

Non-Commissioned Officer Academy (NCOA)

- For C/SSgt – C/CMSgt

- Focuses on leadership techniques by using classroom instruction and practical application

- Topics to include instructing Drill & Ceremonies, How to Set the Example and Building a Team

- Designed to challenge the students so that individual leadership skills begin (or continue) to develop

- Defines the NCOs role in the home squadron and demonstrates how the students can apply their knowledge to their home squadron

BCOP/NCOA Packing List

On Person (all items are required):

Completed CAPF 60 (2 copies)

Current CAP ID card

Wristwatch

Complete BDU Uniform in accordance with CAPM 39-1. Students of both schools will wear a brown t-shirt with the BDU.

Small notepad

Pens, pencils

Personal medications in original RX container with notes detailing instructions on usage.

In backpack or duffel-style bag (* = required items. All other items are highly suggested.):

Change of BDU uniform

Spare socks*

Sweat or athletic pants* (preferably black. No writing)

Two extra brown t-shirts*

Running sneakers and socks*

Warm boots and outwear appropriate for weather conditions* (gloves, hat, raingear, etc)

Spending money not to exceed $10

Sleeping bag and pad*

Small back pack to carry classroom gear in

Hygiene items* (toothbrush, etc)

Flashlight*

Boot shine kit*

Water container with water* (at least two canteens or 1 “camel back”)

Snack food for 2 days

Contraband List

These items will not be permitted at the school. Students gear will be checked upon sign in for any contraband. Should contraband be found after sign in it will be taken from the student for the remainder of the school and is grounds for dismissal from the school.

Lighters/matches or any fire starting devices

Knives larger than 3 inches in length or straight blade style

Electronic devices including MP3 players, CD players, DVD players, alarm clocks.

Illegal drugs

Firearms

Tobacco products

Cell phones (if students require cell phones for transportation they may be given to the staff at sign in for duration of the activity and will receive them after graduation.)

Car keys (if students require car keys for transportation they will be surrendered upon sign in and returned upon graduation).
